1937 The Rains Came, A Novel of Modern India by Louis Bromfield. Published by Grosset & Dunlap. Dust jack shows wear but is very much intact. I quite like this dust jacket though I’m not usually fond of them. The book itself is pristine on the covers and spine. Deckled page edges. There’s a gift inscription from Christmas of 1939. Slight browning on the edges of the pages but they are all clear and accounted for. See photos. The voice present in the writing here reminds me very much of the movies from the 30’s and 40’s. I got a kick out of it. 😉 Enjoy! (After I wrote this, I discovered it was made into a film in 1939!)
